STANDARD 11 Generic Safety and Health Training (Surface)
A “Standard 11” has been the Standard for WHS obligations in the coal mining industry in Queensland for some time, but is increasingly becoming the standard for many other surface extraction and drilling operations to ensure workers are competent, efficient and most importantly, aware of safety related matters and how to handle them correctly in a team environment.
A Standard 11 qualification will assist those looking for mining and related work in Queensland or already working in the industry. The term “Standard 11” is derived from: Recognised Standard 11, Training in Coal Mines (Qld) Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999.
Please note that every site has its own policies, processes and procedures. All follow a similar path, but Standard 11 graduates must be aware of all variations or additional requirements when they enter any site and attend a site specific induction to confirm these differences before commencing work.
The national units of competency covered are:
RIIWHS201E – Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
RIIERR205E – Apply initial response first aid.
RIIGOV201E – Comply with site work processes/procedures
RIIRIS201E – Conduct local risk control.
